On the 1st of June I went to Miro's exhibition (Tate Modern museum) and I am really enthusiastic about that!
This exhibition examines moments across Miro's very long career that reveal his engagement with his times and it is included by three sections: - the first rooms explore his commitment to his native Catalonia - in the middle section, the terrifying years of the Spanish Civil War are reflected in Miro's new pictorial language - the final section looks at the last years of Franco's rule
Moreover, during my tour in Miro's exhibition, I tried to discover the typographic elements in some of his works. One example, is the poster above which was influenced by the antifascist politics, during Franco's period.
This catalog of type by Michael Perry gives a lot of freedom and ideas to designers. Through a range of handmade typefaces everyone can challenge himself and try it, even if he never try it before. This book was really useful for one of my projects, which was to design covers and spreads for a children magazine. I got a lot of interesting information and this made my work more creative! You can check the website of Michael Perry here... http://www.mikeperrystudio.com/
An exhibition of the famous painter Miro takes place in Tate Modern Museum(London), until 11 September. Probably this exhibition is not directly related to typography, but I think that it's really useful for every designer to have knowledge of the art history. This makes him to have inspiration and new ideas. I'll attend the exhibition on the 1st of June and of course I'll write my impressions for it. You have to go too! http://www.tate.org.uk/modern/exhibitions/joanmiro/default.shtm

At present there is no internationally recognized symbol for human rights. The “Logo for Human Rights” initiative wants to change that! Logos win people over through their symbolic power, distinctiveness, clarity and universal applicability.
The initiative was established out of conviction that a human rights logo will make a peaceful contribution towards the global spread and implementation of human rights. In order to find this logo, a global creative online competition with cash prizes and open to everyone is to be launched.
A type writing symposium will take place at Birmingham City University (UK), on 16 March 2011. Lecturers from different countries will share with us their knowledge about useful topics based on typography.
I was always interested in learning about letterpress, because I love the printing result more than the digital one. This "old school" style gives to my work something unique and new every time! Unfortunately, in my previous university I didn't have the opportunity to attend lessons in letterpress, so when I learnt for this workshop in Birmingham City University I didn't want to lose this chance! Take a look of the process through the above photos! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letterpress_printing
An informal documentary about Linotype typecasting machine. An extremely complicated machine, which disappeared over the years, but some people are still interested in that! Unfortunately, we are used in writing and printing letters without knowing the process... http://linotypefilm.com/
